Who made Unity Media’s MMARAU League Team of the Week?

The sixth matchday of the 2024 Maasai Mara University League saw 24 goals and seven clean sheets. Newly formed side Orlando Pirates remain the only perfect team, having won all six of their games this season.

But which players made it into Unity Media 254’s Team of the Week for MD6? Here are our 11 picks, along with the reasoning behind each selection, and the substitutes.

Brayo (Al Hilal): History was made as Al Hilal kept their first clean sheet in the Maasai Mara University League with a 1-0 win against Young Africans. Goalkeeper Brayo made three crucial saves.

Ryan (Juja FC): Juja’s right-back Ryan was impressive in their 1-0 win against Assins FC, making four key passes, three accurate long balls, two clearances, and two ball recoveries. He’s back in his best form, delivering forward passes and solid defense.

Dan (Sharks FC): The former Assins defender was a rock for Sharks, keeping a clean sheet against Al Hilal. He looked like a solid, no-nonsense center-half, doing exactly what his team needed.

Vinnie (Marz United): Vinnie scored the equalizer for Marz United in their match against Sharks FC, marking his fourth goal of the season. As one of Marz United’s strongest defenders, he’s also proving to be a significant attacking threat from set pieces.

Tito (Tsunami FC): Tito played the full 90 minutes in Tsunami’s win against Nyakans FC. He made five clearances, won six duels, and completed 77% of his passes against Nyakans fc.

Trent (Sharks FC): Trent was excellent in Sharks’ win against Al Hilal, scoring a crucial goal to secure the three points. He’s evolving into one of the best holding midfielders, he looks like a powerhouse and is getting better and better with each game.

Dante (Medstars): Dante provided two assists in a win over Golden Boys. I had a friend who was at the match (Ochieng Szoboslai) and I asked ,him who the best player was – he said Dante and I trust his opinion.

Calvo (Orlando Pirates): Orlando Pirates captain Calvin Odera scored in their win against Platinum, but his influence went beyond that. He broke up plays and kept the ball moving effectively.

Rashford (Kaya FC): Another week, another two goals for Rashford. The former Juja winger scored as Kaya defeated Platinum 1-0, and also netted in their loss against Macmillan.

Omwana (Commerce FC): The 20-year-old attacking midfielder returned to form with two goals against MFC—one from a corner and another from a close-range free kick.

Hillary (MFC): Hillary scored two goals in MFC’s win over Macmillan, helping his team secure their third victory of the season.
