Twelve different teams are represented in the Maasai Mara University League Matchday 7 & 8 Team of the Week, selected by UNITY MEDIA 254 sports journalists.
Arupe (Medstars):
Arupe kept two clean sheets in matches against Platinum and Macmillan, making a total of six crucial saves across both games.
Sabuni (MFC):
MFC’s right-back shone in their match against Al Hilal, scoring the only goal of the game directly from a corner. His defensive contributions included three recoveries and six interceptions.
Tito (Tsunami FC):
Among the right-sided center-backs in action this week, Tito stood out for his defensive numbers, including six recoveries, three interceptions, and eight tackles. He also scored the winning goal in their game against Juja FC.
Fabian (Assins FC):
The Assins captain played exceptionally well in their 2-1 win against Golden Boys, scoring the first goal and leading his team with his on-field presence.
Marto (Commerce FC):
Coach Joshua Mogusu deployed Marto as a holding midfielder in their 1-0 win against Kaya FC. His defensive contributions were outstanding, as he was involved in a significant number of duels and made nine ball recoveries.
Clichy (Orlando Pirates):
Clichy provided a solid defensive platform for Orlando Pirates’ impressive win against Macmillan. His performance included six ball recoveries, and he also scored the second goal of the game.
Alfie (Marz United):
Alfie scored his first goal of the season, helping Marz United secure their fifth win. His goal was crucial in boosting his team’s campaign.
Mohammed (Golden Boys):
The attacking midfielder excelled in Golden Boys’ first-ever victory in the Maasai Mara University League, with a goal and two key passes in their win against Platinum FC.
Manucho (Nyakans FC):
Manucho’s performance against Sharks FC earned him the Player of the Match award. He not only scored but also won six out of eight duels, completed all seven of his dribbles, made eight recoveries, and scored from a penalty.
Ericko (Nyakans FC):
Ericko played a pivotal role in Nyakans’ 2-0 win against Sharks FC. His industrious efforts were highlighted by a 71% success rate in his 14 duels. His pressing work high up the pitch also won his team a penalty.
Junior (Juja FC):
Junior was pivotal in Juja’s comeback with two superb goals. The first came from his clever movement, while the second was an amazing strike from distance. In a tight contest, Junior was the game-changer, with his hard work reflected by four ball recoveries.
